Introduction
Shikinejima is one of the smallest islands of IZU. It is only 12 km and you can visit either foot or bicycle. This island is around 160 km south of Tokyo and 36 km south of Shimoda of Shizuoka Prefecture. As per data from 2009, less than 600 populations were registered. Shikinejima is only 7.6 km far from Nijima. If you look at history then you will know that Shikinejima and Nijima are one big islands of IZU, and separated by the 1703 earthquake and giant tsunami. How I explore Shikinejima
I made a one-day trip to Shikinejima while I was in Nijima Island. One of my Japanese friends suggested me not rent a bicycle because the land of Shikinejima is not so plain compared to Nijima. And by foot, you can cover all the spots within a day, his advice was worth it, saved my extra budget.
Tomari Beach

Tomari Beach is the nearest destination from the port in Shikinejima. This beach is well known for its beautiful, clear white sand cove beach. Although it is a beach but looks like a round natural swimming pool. At peak seasons like a golden week and summer locals also sell different snacks and drinks.
Kambiki observatory

Everyone desires to visit the Kambiki Observatory. To reach the top, you have to go through a short forest trail. you enjoy nature and the sounds of birds chirping. When you reach the top, you can see the a breathtaking view of the sea and sky.
Hot springs

Most of the islands of Japan a volcanic islands, so Shikinejima is also one of them. Here in Shikinejima, there are many small onsen where you can enjoy natural scenic views while bathing.
